anyone can climb, so everyone is welcome

Whether you've never climbed before or you're training to be the next Alex Honnold, whether you are young in body or young in spirit, you belong here. The Grotto is a community dedicated to welcoming current & future climbers of every age, regardless of experience or physical ability.

We want the Grotto to offer you a comfortable home for all things climbing - everything from your hopes, goals, and aspirations, to your worries, anxieties, and insecurities.

why rock climb?

If you've never climbed before you may be wondering what all the fuss is about. We may be biased, but we think it's pretty great.

Here are just a few reasons why:

brain

Each climb is like a puzzle, and unlike some more traditional fitness activities, your mind is heavily engaged as you figure out how to move your body from point A to point B.

Climbers have been known to enter a 'flow' mind state on the wall, which can relieve stress and even block pain.

body

Climbing is a great full body workout, that engages diverse muscle groups to build strength and stability in everything from fingers, to core, and legs.

Route finding teaches your mind and body to work together, and helps develop a deeper understanding of how your body moves in space.

community

Climbing is an inherently social activity, whether you're partnering with an old friend for roped climbs, or bonding with strangers over a tough problem on the boulder mats.

The sport offers plenty of opportunities to both build and deepen relationships among a friendly, welcoming, and encouraging community.
