With the commencement of Ontario’s Phase Three of the Reopening Plan, the Guelph Grotto will be able to reopen. Currently, we are only opening timeslots to members, who can choose between reactivating their membership, or choosing to purchase a Day Pass. These timeslots will start after camp is finished to minimize the number of occupants in the gym - 5:30 will be the first timeslot. We will close on Monday July 27, 2020 to update these policies and fine tune our procedures.
We have updated our policies and procedures to increase hygiene within the Grotto, which include (and may not be limited to):
Shoes must be worn in the facilities at all times, and closed-toed shoes must be worn on the wall.
Masks are required while climbers are inactive in the gym, but climbers may remove the masks while going up the wall or catching their breath. This is per Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health regulations, which you can find here.
Timeslots must be used to book a session, which are available in two-hour sessions for boulder (10 spaces), top rope (20 spaces), and MoonBoard (three spaces). You can find our booking page here.
Wear your clothing before you come climbing as we are closing our changerooms, which will be restricted to toilets and sinks.
We are switching to liquid chalk only as per CWA’s recommendations, as it sanitizes hands throughout one’s climb.
Social distancing practices are in effect (6ft or 2m distance) unless you are in the same social bubble or household.
These policies were decided by management, based on Government and Public Health regulations, and no exceptions can be made by our front desk staff. If there are any questions or comments, please contact us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hope to see you soon!!
