COVID Questions

HOW DO WE GET CLIMBING?
Note we are currently temporarily closed for renovations. During our most recent operating hours in December, 2021, climbers were invited to climb at the Grotto during without a booking. We are usually open weekdays 4:00 PM - 11:00 PM. On weekends we are usually open from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. There is no pre-booking required, and the only limitation is that we are managing a 20 person max capacity, as per Public Health regulations.

ARE YOU CURRENTLY OFFERING GEAR RENTALS?
Yes! We are renting gear to those who need it - we are currently renting shoes and harnesses, but we encourage all climbers to bring their own gear if possible. Note that our facility has switched to liquid chalk and chalk ball only, and this we are unable to rent at this time (but we do have some for sale).

CAN I BOOK AN INSTRUCTOR FOR A LESSON OR EVENT?
We have been phasing all of our programs back in gradually, and this includes our youth programs and smaller individual / group bookings. If you wish to book an instructor for a lesson, Just Climb, or other, give us a call and we can discuss what we are able to do at this time, and how we can get you set up. You can reach our front desk at 519-767-0838.

HOW IS MY MEMBERSHIP IMPACTED BY THE COVID CLOSURE?
For each lockdown, members are contacted via email with updates about their memberships. Long story short: during a lockdown, memberships are frozen and prorated accordingly so everyone is charged the proper amount. Note: It is the member's responsibility to freeze their membership, as we unfreeze all memberships at the end of the lockdown. Freeze requests can be done here.
If you have any questions or concerns reach out to us by phone or email.

ARE YOU RUNNING YOUR OUTDOOR PROGRAMS?
In the summer, we sure are! Outdoors is the best place to be during COVID! You can see what programs we have on offer here, and book them by contacting our Outdoor Climbing Manager at outdoor@guelphgrotto.com.

IF MY KIDS ARE CLIMBING, CAN I STILL SUPERVISE?
With our capacity (20, as of December 19, 2021), we do not allow spectators for children. Please limit the number of supervisors to one supervisor for every two children 11 and under. Any spectators and supervisors are expected to follow our vaccination policy.

HOW BUSY IS THE GYM?
Each climber entering the gym is required to check-in and out so we can keep an active count of the number of people in the gym. If you are curious about how busy we are, you can either call us and ask or download the RGPro Connect Mobile App, or visit our home page, where we have a real-time count. We frequently reach capacity between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM, so check out the RGP App or our home page before heading over!.

WHAT ARE YOUR COVID-19 POLICIES?
You can find a full up-to-date list of our policies and procedures here. Any updates will be posted on our websites and/or social media (@GuelphGrotto). These policies may change without notice.
