THE RIGHT LESSON FOR YOU

The Guelph Grotto offers a variety of lessons available for all skills levels. For those with little to no experience or those who just can’t quite remember what they learned before, the introductory lesson is the right choice for you! We also specialize in introductory lead lessons, taught by ACMG certified instructors with over 10 years of instructing experience. Taking lessons with our qualified instructors is the best way to immerse yourself into the world of indoor rock climbing. Our lessons can be booked privately or are available for large groups and are tailored by the instructors to meet the needs and experience of the participants.

 

SHOW ME THE ROPES

An introduction to climbing with an instructor

Show Me the Ropes is a two hour lesson , during which we will teach you how to get into your harness, tie knots and belay. Included is a free month’s membership (equipment not included) so you can come back and practice on your own!

+ $95.00 for two or $55.00 for an individual (without rentals) or *$65/ea with rentals for duration of free month (*New lesson offer!)

+ Includes equipment rental, belay device (Petzl GriGri), carabiner, auto-locking harness and shoes (at an additional charge, climbing chalk can be rented)

+ Includes complimentary One Month Membership (Membership lasts for 31 days, dated from instructional class)

JUST CLIMB

Vertically challenging fun for a group or for kids!

For Just Climbing, we provide one belayer (staff member) for every five climbers to assist with the basics, like harnessing, tying ropes and belaying. Just Climbing makes a great birthday party package for kids or just a memorable night out for couples. No previous climbing experience is needed.

TAKING THE LEAD

A lead certification course for experienced climbers

Push yourself beyond your self-imposed limits! In two three-hour sessions, you will learn the skills needed for sport lead climbing. You will need your own rope. The course is designed for two climbers but if you don’t have a partner, call us anyway.

+ Minimum $150.00 per person

+ Must provide own equipment: belay device (Petzl GriGri), sport climbing rope, climbing draws, harness, carabiners, rope bag or mat, helmets if desired)

+ Must have accredited climbing ability (climbing 5.10 or higher regularly) must be able to flash/onsight Guelph Grotto 5.10-

+ Must demonstrate climbing safety and knowledge to instructor prior to introductory lesson

+ Must be interviewed and have climbing ability and safety methodology assessed by instructor prior to lesson
